Temp Event Staff Tips

HR managers having job interview with female candidate, sitting against window

Your event is going to be a success! You must repeat that in your head several times until you believe it. The fact is, if you put in the time and effort, and you hire the correct people to help you, then there’s absolutely no reason why this shouldn’t be the case. As such, we’ve put together a simple guide so that you can ensure that you do indeed, find the perfect people for the job.

1 – Create accurate descriptions of what you need

In order to find the right candidates, you’re going to need to put together accurate descriptions of the role that you’re hiring for. This should include the duties involved, the length of the service that they will be required for, certain dress codes and any other brand-related images that you would like to uphold. Provided that you do this, you should have no issues finding the perfect candidates through a reputable agency such as First Class Crew.

2 – Hire onsite supervisors

Especially if you’re hosting a particularly large event, you should hire competent onsite supervisors that can manage the temp staff that you’re hiring. As it stands already, you’ll be stacked with a million things to take care of, so it’s always worth delegating the management aspect to someone that you can rely on. Any reputable temp event staffing agencies will have a number of experienced candidates that will be able to assist you in this.

3 – Always interview your staff

It doesn’t matter how much faith you have in your event staffing agency; you should always endeavour to speak with everyone that will be representing you when the time comes. You don’t have to sit down with absolutely everyone, but at the very least, a phone call should give you a reasonably good idea as to whether or not they’re the type of person that you want representing you. Oh, and be sure to prepare some appropriate interview questions for tempt staff.

4 – Offer training where necessary

This won’t always be necessary as most of the candidates that you will be hiring will have worked on a number of events in the past already. However, if you are doing something especially different, then you need to brief and train each of the relevant candidates in their specific roles so that their can be no mistakes.

5 – Trust your staffing agency

It can be off-putting when hiring temporary staff, as you may assume that they’re unable to hold down a permanent position due to incompetence. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Remember, temp event staffing agencies specialise in this area and this area alone. So, they will be well-versed in hiring only the finest candidates, as they will be representing them when it comes down to it and thus, will not want to risk putting just anyone forward unless they have the utmost faith in their abilities to deliver,
